The fisherman ties the neck of the bird so it cannot swallow the fish it catches. Pretty clever.

Our incredible tour guide in Dali, Michael "Big wang Wu-Tang" Yang. It's great, a tour guide named Michael Yang was featured in the 2007 Lonely Planet China and now there are Michael Yang tour guides all over the country. I met three and they all "recommended by LP."

Happy Thanksgiving, Jacob! We missed you, but maybe next year we can all be together. And it was so good to speak to you. Thank you so much for calling.
As I read your blogs, I think back to my “grand tour” the summer between my junior and senior college years. It was fascinating, fabulous, intersting, awesome, and great fun… I couldn’t believe I was really there in Europe. It seemed more like I was watching a movie.
Keep those blogs coming. Your trip sounds awesome and the pictures are terrific–a few that might make especially interesting paintings.
Love you,
G-Ma
