In Photos | China Pt. 2

Lijiang's Old City exists solely tourists but the immaculately maintained gardens and traditional architecture manage to make it a charming place. However, I don't think the charm lasts much longer than a one day visit.

Tried my hand at dumpling making - turns out I'm not so good

What they should look like

My sad little dumplings

Hitting the trail in Tiger Leaping Gorge

The mighty Jade Dragon Snow Mountains were a constant companion on the two day hike

One of the last photos I took at the end of the hike. Hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge is a right of passage for travelers in Western China. It's billed as a tourist attraction but it's a demanding hike. Guys with donkeys follow you for the first half hoping that you'll get tired and need a ride.

After the gorge we were on the road again to Shangrila, which I did not find nearly as interesting as the name implies, and then into Tibetan country in western Sichuan

I am actually very impressed by the dumplings! Well done Jake. I look forward to a cooking lesson (including stirfry) some day.
